The checkerboard print has gained enduring icon status in the fashion world, especially after it dominated the skate culture of the 90s. This season, Kings of Indigo have taken the traditional 8x8 checkerboard print and added their own twist. Instead of the black and white contrast, it is an indigo versus white combination – the white square carrying the brand’s recognisable logo of the koi carp fish.
The koi carp fish has been with Kings of Indigo from the start - a symbol of resilience and swimming against the current, in particular when it comes to perseverance in achieving their goals in regard to sustainable production. For example, the checkerboard jean and jacket combination are made from organic cotton and dyed with vegetable dye, making it free from chemical interference.
