Planet friendly materials
Organic, recycled, natural and vegan. Sustainable every time.

Environmentally friendly materials
Since the very beginning in 2011 we never compromised on sustainable materials. The Kings Of Indigo collection is made of more then 99% sustainable materials. The remaining part is virgin synthetic materials, for which we are constantly seeking for alternatives.
Recycled materials
Recycled cotton is re-purposed cotton that would otherwise be waste for the landfill. We work with both pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled cotton. The first is made from leftover bits and scraps from textile factories, so unworn cotton waste. The post-consumer recycled cotton is made from worn garments and such, thrown away but completely recyclable and ready for the second round.
Jeans are made with 100% recycled cotton and apparel made with recycled cotton, recycled elastane, recycled polyester. Are you curious about our other recycled materials?
The cotton in our collection is either 100% certified organic or completely recycled. Organic cotton is a natural fiber grown without the use of toxic pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, making it safer for the planet, farmer and wearer. It is produced and certified to organic agricultural standards.
Natural & low impact fibers
Alongside organic cotton, the Kings Of Indigo collection offers natural fibers like hemp and linen. These are all grown without the use of pesticides and nasty chemicals and they hardly take up any water.
Materials like tencel-lyocell, tencel refibra and modal are often favoured by ethical clothing brands like us. Production is completely carbon neutral and these fibers are 100% biodegradable.

Trims and things
When you claim sustainability requires a holistic approach, you have to pay attention to the details. Like buttons. Instead of plastic we use corozo buttons, made from the tagua nut that grows on certain palm trees. The environmental impact of the material and processing is practically zero and at the end of its life cycle, corozo is fully biodegradable.
As for the metal trinkets on our garments, all is fully recycled, made from the NO Impact line from Metalbottoni. All hangtags and pocket flashers are made by our supplier Cadica in Italy, from 100% recycled paper, the woven labels consist of 80% recycled polyester and 20% organic cotton. The packaging, our polybags, are made of 100% recycled polyester.

Certifications

OCS:
The Organic Content Standard (OCS) is an international, voluntary standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of certified organic input and chain of custody. The goal of the OCS is to increase organic agriculture production.

GRS:
GRS guarantees a company’s fabrics consist of at least (!) 20% of recycled content. The GRS certification verifies the recycled content and the socially responsible and environmentally friendly production practices.

RCS:
The RCS certification verifies the presence and amount of at least (!) 5% recycled material in a final product via third party verification.

TENCEL™ Lyocell is the most sustainable of human-made fibers. It’s made from FSC certified forestry. The spinning process is done in closed-loop systems, where the spinning solvents are recycled and used many times over.
